ONE of the many interesting things about being in the group 'nobody' is that people often ask us, 'what kind of music do you play?' a simple enough question, but one that really isn't simple to answer. we have so many tapes, and the songs and styles on them are all different. the live shows we do also differ from show to show, depending on the place we play, the instruments we bring, and the audience that we play for. and so, we thought it might be interesting to finally make some 'live' tapes, which will hopefully be reflective of what we do live, or at least what we were doing in 1999. the material on this tape consists of live performances from 1999, done by three people, live in the same room, with no overdubs or artificial enhancements of any kind. what you hear is what was there. the songs on side ONE were all recorded live on the radio at WERS 88.9fm in boston massachusetts,USA. between 6/1/99 and 11/5/99. many of these songs were actually recorded at home off ye good olde fashioned radio by ruth rosenblatt.......for the most part, these songs feature acoustic guitar, mandolin, and dobro, along with one, two or even three vocals... the songs on side TWO were recorded at a live show at soundworks studios in watertown massachusetts, USA. on may 15th 1999. side one represents what might be a typical sort of nobody 'acoustic' show, while side two deals more with our 'experimental' or improvisational shows.......which is another way of saying we brought more instruments to this show, including but not limited to: accordian, pedal steel, toy keyboard and............several of the songs on side two are completely improvised, which will lead to another tape, which contains even more improvisational material recorded live at brandeis university on 12/1/99. but we're getting ahead of ourselves..........

let's see what the early word is on this one.....

"what's all the fuzz about?" -eldrige patridge, meat packer, cleaver

"you guys are just SO nutty!" -Betty Meyeer, condescending local folk dj. passive agressivist

"i'm over playing on purpose"-steelhead, dobro player, full time dreamer.

"don't take this the wrong way, but you guys have really improved!....not that you weren't good before.....i mean....."-Trent Calk, podiatrist

"i am SO ignoring you"-judy liebler, mime, improviser

"does this mean i don't have to go to the live shows anymore?" - stephen vedder, ovo lacto sigma sancto
