WILL I PLAY ON YOUR RECORD......?

definitely.....MAYBE.....i don't know....

it depends on a lot of things....some of which include:

a. i have to believe in the songs, and preferably, in you. if you're singing about killing baby seals or how much you love george bush or if your material is sexist, racist or any of the other 'ists' that bring us
all down, well then, i'm probably not the guy for you. there's plenty of great players out there who can do the job just fine, so you're better off contacting them. ideally, i would like your songs, and what you do as an artist......and that would really help me to add something to the song or songs.

b. my schedule, your schedule and the schedule......it depends on how much other work i have, my show schedule and when you need it done by. preferably, i can have a rough demo of the song, and work out a few options for parts which you can then choose from.

c. you know what you want. oddly enough, a lot of people contact me and ask me to play on their records and then when i show up, they really don't know what they want it to sound like, or don't seem to have a preference for any of the parts that i lay down.....the more clear your idea is for what you want it to sound like, the better i can help you......having said that of course, i love to improvise, and make stuff up, and i'm more than happy to do that too, it's just that i have to understand that and know it up front....

LIVE stuff: WILL I SIT IN AT YOUR GIG?

sure. maybe. again, provided that the stuff above is ok, and i like what you're doing, and the schedules work out, i would probably be very happy to sit in with you....

i would prefer to know the songs up front, but i am also more than happy to dive off the deep end in to shark infested waters and just go for it.........again, it depends on the songs and situation....
usually the more lead time you can give me, the better things come out...

in closing, i don't want to make this sound like i'm a nashvegas session A team member like harold bradley or bob moore or so many of the other great players who work behind the scenes......when people ask me to play with them or on their recordings, i am always very grateful and moved that someone would actually ask me to do something like that, and it really means a lot to me. i wish that i could accomodate all of the requests, but i'm just too busy to be in too many places at the same time.....

so having said all that, don't be afraid, if you want some dobro, drop me a line, i'd love to hear from you....EMAIL
