my dobro opinions:

everybody's got a web site...yes they do, do do. and everybody's got an opinion too.......yup, yup, yup,...... so here's mine. dobro rules. i heart dobro. i get asked a lot of questions about the dobro, so i'm going to try to answer some of them here.

the first category will be called :

1. "how i learned to play the dobro". it contains information about just that- how i learned to play. instructional material, and so on.

2. how to set up your guitar to play lap style.......

3. "influences"......players that i really like, and or have been 'influenced' by.

4. gear head. this is a section about the equipment i use, and my opinions on gear and 'stuff'.

5. LESSONS? --yup. i give lessons...... there are a few things i could suggest if you really want to learn: 1. REGISTER for my dobro course at club passim in cambridge mass. if you're local. the course will be offered regularly and you can sign up here: http://www.clubpassim.com/musicschool/ it will be six tuesdays for 75 minutes each.......there are usually four sessions or so each year...this is a great way to get started if you are a complete beginner, or aren't sure of where to start..........2. i teach PRIVATE lessons in the Boston/Cambridge area....
if you are local and have some experience, or would rather learn in a one on one setting. all levels are welcome, beginner to advanced. you can send me an email info@lloydthayer.com, .......3. you could also try reading the above link, #1, "how i learned to play the dobro" and you will hopefully get enough info there to get you started, or, even BETTER, contact STACY PHILLIPS....he is the greatest living dobro player out there, and he gives lessons. he's in new haven conn. and you can contact him thru his website http://www.stacyphillips.com.......believe me, this will really REALLY help your playing, even if you only go once. another way of looking at it, is if you wanted to learn how to sing opera, you would NOT be able to take a private lesson with pavarotti......just sayin.
and, mike auldridge also gives lessons.....! he is in the maryland area, and one of the all time dobro greats........his website is http://www.mikeauldridge.com/
and there is contact info on it.....

6. Harmonica!!! i have been teaching harmonica both at passim school of music and privately.....http://www.clubpassim.com/musicschool/ ....or send me an email

7. Will I play on your album, project, live show, etc etc......
