Who starts a tape with a ballad? nobody !!!!!! that's who!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from the slow acoustic tale of earl and his untreated alcoholism, to the television news sound collage of gulf war stupidity, "can't see the smoke....." keeps the wheels spinning in all directions, with great songwriting and tasty riffage............... recorded above a chineese food wharehouse overlooking a scrap metal yard in scenic Somerville, Mass....tastefully done between meetings of a dungeons and dragons club, on a battered but loveable Teac 8 track reel to reel.......in a "full band" configuration, nobody combines aucoustic and electric instruments and even a partially clothed drummer!!!!!!!..... sakes alive..!!!!!! .....fusing the punk spirit of the Dead Milkmen with the rockabilly bop of Link Wray ,with a dash of Pink Floyd for good measure........social commentary combined with a sense of humor (finally), the band stretches out here,using many different styles.....
includes what is now known as the first nobody instrumental, in "i've got something to say"; vibrator as slide in "pelvic magnet blues"; and the now long lost bitchen 1947 Gibson L5 hollow body guitar of doom on "brighton center"...........
